The Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest Council has joined forces with the Kappa Delta chapters at UNCC and Queens University to showcase the innovative documentary, Girl Rising
, on Saturday, November 7 from 1 -4 p.m at Queens university.Girl Rising
journeys around the globe to witness the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world, focusing on the concept that educating girls can break cycles of poverty in just one generation, yet millions of girls aren’t in school. Girl Rising
uses storytelling to inspire action that gets girls into classrooms worldwide.
Following the film, a panel discussion will take place with community leaders like Ann Clark, CMS Superintendent; Rosemary Hopcroft, Professor in the department of Sociology at UNCC and others to discuss the state of girls, issues facing girls today and more.
